Statistically the “halfway line” of life sits somewhere in your 40’s.
The “first half” is filled with many changes and new experiences, making the years pass by gradually. You make many transitions: from child to adult, from study to work, and from living with parents to moving out on your own. You build relationships and may start your own family.
Then, from your 40s, something strange happens — time seemingly speeds up. You settle into a routine, and the years start to fly by.
The “second half” is a critical time. Your work and family life are usually busier than ever. Your time is at a premium, and it can be tempting to put your own life and aspirations on hold while you deal with other challenges.
The problem is, the challenges will never stop coming. Work will always be busy, and you will always have issues to deal with. Before you know it, the opportunity may have passed, and all you will be left with is regret.
Regardless of the stage of life you are at, it pays to be intentional and to put plans in place to do the things that are important to you. This will ensure your aspirations are prioritised and that you have the resources available when you need them.
You don’t know how long you will have your health or how much time you have on this planet. The second half is the last, so try to live it with the same vitality as you lived the first.
